Recently a feature account shared one of my shots similar to this one and the reactions were interesting. Often when these kinds of shots are shared with a large following there’s a handful of people who like to try and put down the photographer for using photoshop. I personally feel photoshop is a powerful tool to create art so long as you aren’t changing something and claiming its real. These images were never intended to be real, in fact I love creating them because of how surreal they are. So I ask, what do you all think about photoshop being used in photography? Do you think it’s wrong to add/remove things to create a better image? Is it cheating or just creating? And if changing things in a photograph is cheating, then wouldn’t all photographers doing any color correction, fixing highlights, pulling shadows, overlaying colors or simply sharpening an image be considered cheating since that’s not how the original looked?
