The holiday season is often the most social - and happiest - time of the year! 🦃🎄BUT stress and anxiety over food can take over if you don’t have a plan for how to approach them! Here are my 🖐🏽TOP 5 TIPS🖐🏽 to stay on track so you don’t feel the need to miss out on time with your friends & loved ones!⠀ ⠀ 1️⃣DON’T skip meals to save calories! 🥦 If you know you’re planning on a big dinner or a few drinks, start your day with a few lighter meals. Focus on lean protein and lots of veggies throughout the day so you don’t go on a raging hunger binge later on.⠀ ⠀ 2️⃣DO hydrate! 💦 Many “holiday” foods are higher in sodium, so drink plenty of water to maintain the balance of body fluids. A good goal is 0.5-1.0 oz water per pound of body weight. (If you weigh 130lbs, that means roughly 65-130 oz water per day.) Drinking may help you feel full more quickly, it flushes out waste by encouraging healthy digestion and it helps prevent dehydration & headaches.⠀ ⠀ 3️⃣DO bring a dish! 🥗 If you’re concerned that you’ll be in an environment where healthier options are limited, bring a dish to share! Salads, veggie sides and healthy homemade dips are all good ideas. Keep an eye on my page/stories these next few weeks for suggestions!⠀ ⠀ 4️⃣DO pay attention to your plate! 🍽 Load up on veggies and protein BEFORE other things like cheesy cornbread stuffing or sweet potato casserole!⠀ ⠀ 5️⃣DON’T STRESS! ✨ Holidays are meant to be enjoyed, so while it’s possible to stay “strict,” please keep the bigger picture in mind! I am hearing it everywhere...⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣ women stressing over the food during the holidays, and wondering how they will survive it all... ⁣⁣⁣ If this is you, no worries, boo. I got you!⁣⁣ ⁣ ⁣⁣⁣ 🌸I have compiled 𝟓 𝐬𝐢𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐞 𝐛𝐮𝐭 𝐤𝐞𝐲 points to remember leading up to and during holiday events:⁣ ⁣⁣⁣ 1️⃣ 𝘉𝘙𝘌𝘈𝘛𝘏𝘌 🍃yes. That simple. We are forgetting to breeeathe. Whether you are out shopping for food, planning out a recipe or sitting down to eat with your family, and you’re feeling anxious, breathe. Yes! Take a deep breath in through in your nose, hold for 5, and breathe out your mouth for 5. Do this at least 3 times and feel the difference!⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣ 2️⃣𝘐𝘧 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘥𝘰𝘯’𝘵 𝘭𝘪𝘬𝘦 𝘪𝘵, 𝘥𝘰𝘯’𝘵 𝘦𝘢𝘵 𝘪𝘵! 🙅🏻‍♀️The guilt associated with eating, let alone eating during the holidays, needs to go! If you are asked to try a bite of aunt Sandy’s casserole, and you really don’t like or want it, please kindly decline it. There is nothing wrong with saying no.⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣ 3️⃣ 𝘦𝘯𝘫𝘰𝘺 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘮𝘦𝘢𝘭, 𝘨𝘶𝘪𝘭𝘵-𝘧𝘳𝘦𝘦! 🍲Again, release the guilt. So many times I was caught up with not allowing myself certain foods or as much as I truly wanted for fear of judgement or “being bad.” Please, enjoy it, savor it!⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣ 4️⃣ 𝘞𝘦𝘢𝘳 𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘧𝘰𝘳𝘵𝘢𝘣𝘭𝘦 𝘤𝘭𝘰𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘨. ❤️Yes, I love to wear a cute outfit like anyone else, but don’t forget to be comfortable. Wearing a more snug pair of pants as a reminder to not eat so much is not doing you any favors. You will only be constantly reminded of how uncomfortable you are. Be you, be comfy!⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣ 5️⃣ 𝘢𝘣𝘰𝘷𝘦 𝘢𝘭𝘭 𝘦𝘭𝘴𝘦, 𝘣𝘦 𝘪𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘮𝘰𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘵.🦋 Remember why you are there. CHOOSE to be in the moment and focus on the people, the conversation, the experience. Life is too short to not have the slice of pie and enjoy the company! I know you can do it :)⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣ This is just a snippet, but I 𝐋𝐎𝐕𝐄 diving into this with the women I work with.
