One I've been waiting to get my hands on for a while, the much coveted Horn of Plenty (Craterellus cornucopioides) aka trumpet of the dead or trumpette de la mort (things always sound sexier in French)! Despite the macabre name, the flavour is exceptional - richly umami, slightly sweet and deeply nutty. They are quite reminiscent of Chanterelles particularly Craterellus tubaeformis, hence sometimes being referred to as black Chanterelles. Just returned from a walk to the beach, through the dunes. Icy cold shards of rain blowing off the sea. I soon returned to the shelter of the dunes. Not much to forage today.
